Plain-Language Summary. These Terms govern your use of the FC Mother platform. By using the platform, you agree to these Terms. Key points: Assists are a platform currency with no cash value. Contributions are non-refundable. You must be at least 13 to use the Platform; contributions and sweepstakes require users 18 or older. We may suspend accounts for policy violations.
By accessing or using the FC Mother platform at app.fcmother.com (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Square Roots ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").
These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy and Official Rules for sweepstakes and rewards programs.
Different Platform features have different minimum ages:
Users aged 13–17 (“Minor Users”) may use the free, non-financial features subject to the protections described in our Privacy Policy §14, and may not contribute, subscribe, or enter sweepstakes. You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract; if you are a Minor User, your parent or legal guardian is responsible for your use of the Platform. The Platform is available to legal residents of the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements for each feature you use. We may require age, identity, or residency verification at any time, including before processing a contribution, fulfilling a reward, or paying a sweepstakes prize.
You must create an account to access certain features (Assists, rewards, sweepstakes, subscriptions). You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep your account information updated.
The Platform allows guest contributions (one-time financial contributions without a registered account). Guest contributors receive Assists that are held in a guest record. To claim these Assists and access the full platform, guests must register a full account using the same email address used during the contribution.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@fcmother.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses arising from unauthorized use of your account.
You may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent platform rules, accumulate additional Assists, or gain unfair advantage in sweepstakes or competitions is a violation of these Terms and grounds for immediate suspension.
"Assists" are a platform-specific unit of engagement used within the FC Mother ecosystem. Assists represent participation in the platform's mission of supporting maternal health and are used to measure contributions (both action-based and financial) across the community.
Assists can be earned by completing real-world social support actions verified through the Platform (e.g., volunteering, preparing meals, community support), or funded through financial contributions. Both earned and funded Assists are credited to your unified wallet balance.
Assists have no monetary value. Assists are not money, currency, stored value, or financial instruments. They cannot be redeemed for cash, transferred to other users, sold on secondary markets, or exchanged outside the Platform. Assists represent a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use a functional unit within the Platform, subject to these Terms.
Your wallet displays two numbers: Lifetime Assists (total earned and funded, historical) and Available Assists (spendable on rewards and sweepstakes entries). Spending Assists reduces your Available balance but does not affect your Lifetime total.
Certain actions may earn bonus Assists through multipliers (e.g., subscription tier multipliers, country boosts, streak bonuses). Multiplier rates are displayed at the time of the action and may change at our discretion. Changes to multiplier rates do not retroactively affect previously awarded Assists.
We reserve the right to revoke Assists that were awarded in error, obtained through fraud or policy violations, or associated with chargebacks or payment disputes. Revocation may result in a negative Available balance ("Assist Debt"), which will be offset against future Assist earnings before those Assists become available for spending.
You have no ownership interest, property right, or vested right in Assists. We may modify, limit, or discontinue the Assist system at any time. In the event we discontinue the Assist system, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to redeem Available Assists for eligible rewards during a wind-down period.
Assists do not currently expire. We reserve the right to implement expiration policies with at least 90 days' advance notice. Any expiration policy will comply with applicable consumer protection laws.
Financial contributions made through the Platform are payments to Square Roots in exchange for Assists and access to Platform features (rewards, sweepstakes, competitions). Contributions are not tax-deductible charitable donations unless explicitly stated otherwise. Square Roots allocates a portion of contribution revenue to fund maternal health support services, as described on the Platform.
One-time contribution tiers and custom amounts are displayed on the Platform. Prices are in the currency shown at checkout (USD, MXN, or BRL). All prices include applicable processing fees unless otherwise stated.
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. You agree to Stripe's Terms of Service when making a payment. We do not store your payment card details. Square Roots is not responsible for errors, outages, or security incidents caused by Stripe.
Contributions are generally non-refundable once processed. You may request a refund within 48 hours of a one-time contribution by contacting support@fcmother.com, provided the associated Assists have not been spent. If Assists have already been spent (on rewards or sweepstakes entries), no refund is available. Chargebacks initiated without first contacting us may result in account suspension.
The allocation of contribution revenue between direct maternal health services and platform operations is disclosed on the /contribute page. The current allocation is displayed in the "Where Your Money Goes" section. Allocation percentages may change; we will update the Platform disclosure accordingly.
Financial contributions (crowdfunding) are currently paused. The contribution provisions of these Terms apply only when and where that feature is offered. Pausing the feature does not affect Assists you have already earned or rewards already redeemed.
The Platform offers recurring subscription plans ("Join for the Season") at various tiers (Supporter, Captain, Legend), each with a monthly or annual billing period. Subscription benefits, including Assist multipliers, are described on the Platform at the time of sign-up.
Subscriptions are billed automatically at the start of each billing period via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method. Annual subscriptions are billed as a single annual charge.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your profile settings or by contacting support@fcmother.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to subscription benefits and multiplier rates until the end of the paid period. No prorated refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period.
You may upgrade or downgrade your subscription tier. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing period.
If a payment fails, we will attempt to charge your payment method again according to Stripe's retry schedule. If payment cannot be collected, your subscription may be suspended or canceled. Assists awarded during the subscription period are not revoked due to payment failure, but no new Assists will be awarded until payment is resolved.
The Platform offers sweepstakes where users may spend Assists for entries into prize drawings. Each sweepstakes is governed by its own set of Official Rules, available on the Platform and at /rules. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Official Rules for a specific sweepstakes, the Official Rules prevail.
No purchase is necessary to enter any sweepstakes. An Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE) is available for each sweepstakes as described in the Official Rules.
Users may redeem Available Assists for rewards (physical or digital) listed on the Platform. Rewards are subject to availability, inventory limits, regional restrictions, and maximum redemptions per user. Once a reward is redeemed, the transaction is final and the Assists spent are non-refundable. Physical rewards require a valid shipping address.
We reserve the right to modify, substitute, or discontinue any reward at any time. If a reward becomes unavailable after redemption but before fulfillment, we will offer a substitute of comparable value or refund the Assists to your Available balance.
You may submit content to the Platform, including photos, videos, stories, and proof-of-action media ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Square Roots a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating and promoting the Platform.
You represent that you own or have the right to submit all User Content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.
You agree not to:
We review User Content and Assist claims for compliance with these Terms. We may reject, remove, or revoke content and associated Assists at our sole discretion. Moderation decisions are final.
Mothers may invite people to their care team using an invite code. If you join a care team: (a) you will see the mother’s first name and her open support requests; (b) you agree to use that information solely to support her through the Platform; (c) you must not share it, contact her outside the channels she chooses, or use it for any commercial purpose; (d) the mother or FC Mother may remove you at any time. Violations are grounds for account termination and may violate applicable privacy law.
The Platform, including its design, code, logos, branding ("FC Mother," "World Cup of Healing," "Assists"), and all content created by Square Roots, is the property of Square Roots and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any Platform content without prior written permission.
The FC Mother name, logo, and associated marks are trademarks of Square Roots. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks.
The Platform features public leaderboards ranking users, countries, and clubs by Assist totals. By participating, you consent to the public display of your display name (or initials), country, club affiliation, and Assist totals (earned and funded, as applicable).
Leaderboard rankings are calculated based on the rules described on the Platform. We may modify ranking methodologies, create time-bound campaigns, or introduce new competition formats at our discretion.
Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SQUARE ROOTS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any content on the Platform.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SQUARE ROOTS, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Square Roots, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your User Content; (c) your use of the Platform; or (d) your violation of any third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. Upon termination:
You may close your account at any time by contacting support@fcmother.com. Account closure is permanent. Your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including applicable retention periods.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of NY, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to contact us at support@fcmother.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 60 days.
If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, you agree that any claim, dispute, or controversy arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will be conducted in New York, NY or, at your election, by phone or online.
YOU AND SQUARE ROOTS AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
This arbitration agreement does not preclude you from filing a complaint with a government agency (e.g., FTC, state attorney general) or seeking injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for intellectual property disputes.
If you reside in a jurisdiction that requires disputes to be resolved in local courts (e.g., the European Union), the mandatory arbitration and class action waiver provisions above do not apply to the extent they are unenforceable under local law. In such cases, disputes will be resolved in the courts of your country of residence.
We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via notice on the Platform and, where required, by email, at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Platform and close your account.
